      1. Valley Hope of Cushing saved my life. I’m writing this now as a 5-year sober Alcoholic female in my 40’s. I entered VH after failed attempts at hospital detox, outpatient therapy, and good old white-knuckling because none of these methods were working. I went through medical-supervised detox for the first few days, attempting to attend the meetings, lectures, and activities that are required throughout the day. The ages of patients ranged from 19-70 years of age and during my stay there was a wide range of individuals from each age group. It made it easy to find a niche’ of people from similar life experiences. The DOCs ranged from alcohol to pills to gambling and the recovery method focused on the 12 Steps.

The days were very structured and all patients are expected to attend the activities of the day. They do leave room for downtime to get to know each other, planned social activities, and family visits. I honestly had such a wonderful experience that I was afraid to leave, but I hear that is normal.

I go back at least once a year to visit, check-in with new patients, and give back the hope that was so freely given to me. I highly recommend the Valley Hope program for anyone that feels like they need to get away from life to get themselves sober. No lie, your life will still be there when you get back, but now you’ll have the tools for dealing with it without using.

From my experience in talking to others in AA after returning home, Valley Hope seems to be a place for working professionals and those with insurance. However, I understand they do cover scholarships for those without the means from donors and support. My insurance only covered my medical detox days plus 10 days and I paid out of pocket for the remainder of the month; which ended up being about $3000. They made a payment plan for me which I paid back within the year and if I ever (prayers I don’t) relapse I can go back and they will work with me on an abbreviated stay.

        I highly recommend Valley Hope.
